Sponsorship Program:
In the fall of 2006, we began a program to help orphaned children in the area of Nkokonjeru, Uganda. This program allows the children to attend school and obtain an education. A board member of Educate Uganda who was living in Nkokonjeru for twelve months obtained information on approximately 1500 children from the local and jungle schools. She obtained this information by visiting each school and researching the background of each student. Upon confirmation that a student had lost one or both parents and that school fees were a hardship, the child was photographed and personal information was logged.
Since then, we have found “sponsors” for approximately 700 of these children. What does it mean to “sponsor” a child? For $25 PER YEAR, you will provide the mandatory school fees, a uniform and one meal each day. For many of the children, this may be only their second set of clothes and quite often the only meal this child receives. For your sponsorship, you will receive a picture of the child you are sponsoring, any available information on the child, and the joy of knowing that you are truly making a difference in the life of a child.
